Vacationing Vicariously...

Emma

If I can't go on vacation myself,... looking at the warmth, sunlight and water in a picture is the next best thing.  Seeing  Emma and Bailey having a ball is next!
What can be more fun then digging in the sand at Sanibel?

the Royal Wedding

I've always had a fascination from the time I was little, with everything British.  Fast forward 20 + years and Diana entered the royal scene.  It was so much fun to watch that wedding and a year later, William was born.  The following year I had Chelsea.  It always seemed a perfect idea that she could someday be his princess.  Since that didn't happen, it's been interesting to watch him grow into a wonderful prince and marry Katherine.  (Chelsea's middle name incidently...)
This morning, I watched along with the rest of the world, ~the wedding!  Here are a few of my favorite moments....

Will is reportedly saying something to the effect "this was to be  small, intimate, family affair!"

I love the trees!

Pieces and Parts and What the Wind blew in....

Have you ever noticed have many pieces and parts there are to things that you buy in a box??  We bought this bargain at my favorite grocery store for the grandkids....and then we opened the box!  To my sadness, there are LOTS of things to put togethers.  It seems anything we have bought in the last 10 years, including a crib, have come in boxes that need to be put together.

When Chelsea was 4 or 5 we got one of these same little cars for her (wish I still had it!).  It was twice the size and had a seat for two.  Now it's twice as small and costs twice as much!  Bryden loves just sitting in the car without wheels, etc...ha!  He liked the box too.

It took us forever to put  it all together which is why you don't see an end product.  It was time for Byrden to go to bed by the time we finished!
This morning about 4 am, I was awakened by the sound of the wind.  I ran outside to see what was going on and it was quite a wind storm. Then the electricity went off briefly.  On my way to work, there was this tree across the driveway and many branches down.

On the next street there was a light pole leaning against electric wires and I thought we might be without electricity again but so far, it's OK.  The wind is still blowing but supposed to be better tonight.  Listening to the news and hearing there were upward of 200 tornados in the U.S. the last 24 hours, I know we are very lucky!

I did a little today, but think "clean-up" is our weekend word!

I hope it's blowing in nice weather!

Easter 2011

Can you tell Cooper loves Easter and the bunny??
I don't appologise for being on grandparent overload today and loving every minute of it!! There are a few of the many pics I took....
Bailey loves the bunny too!
After church we went out to eat...and saw the bunny!!  I forgot my camera, so Joni took these and I borrowed her card to upload.  Thanks Joni!!
~the kids before their hunt....

Cooper

There is always a pillow fight or wrestling match at our house.  See poor Bailey buried under Cooper.  Only her foot sticks out!  No one was hurt in the filming of this picture!

"Adult" wrestling match

Arms full of babies!  (Chelsea had to go to work after lunch so we are missing her!)

Have you ever tried to take 4 children's pics at once?  See last pic where they all turned around?!?

My favorite picture!!   Happy Easter!!!

Easter Fairy...part 2

Today "Ya-Ya" alias Kathy called and said she was bringing an Easter treat. We get to chatting then about work, family and silly stuff.  Sometimes we laugh so much we've had physicians (in surgery where we work)tell us they are jealous of whatever we are talking about....ha!

I love her cooking and being 1/2 Greek, she often brings Greek goodies.  They are fantastic!  When she came, she had baklava to die for!
AND Spanakopita too!  I am a total loser.  I gave her a card.
See the corner that is missing????

-it was really good!!!  Yum!!!

You've heard of....

the Easter Bunny, or the Tooth fairy?  How about the Easter fairy??
That's what my good neighbor Joan is for making this beautiful lamb cake!!! She made it in an antique cake mold. Thankyou Joan!!  Happy Easter!!

Getting ready for Easter....

The kids are all coming for Easter and that makes it SO much fun!!  It's hard to get us all in one place at one time more than a few times a year...so when it does, it makes my heart happy.

Things are finally starting to green up.
We've started cleaning the yard and sprucing up....

and spring bulb flowers are out which makes you sigh after such a long winter!  Now if only it would get warm too!!

So after going to work this morning and seeing that Kathy had made a really cute Easter bunny cake, she inspired me and  I decided to do cut-outs for the grandkids.  They took me all evening to make, a labor of love.

I decided to make them Martha Stewart-ish and had visions in my head of adding the cute embellishments on her covers.

My results???? (like the rest of my week...) They look like pastel ghosts at Halloween!! (they did taste pretty good though...)
P.S.  They were carrots and then I did eggs too....which turned out even worse!

Decision:  Get cut-outs Saturday a.m. from Hawkins (local grocery).  Everybody loves them.  Check.
