When Larry comes home from work and into the house, the first thing he says is, "What's for dinner??" Tonight was no exception but the answer was "50/50!"
When I was small, I loved to watch my grandmother cook. She was inventive and creative. She had her share of the family "tried & true" recipes but she also had her share of what my mother called "50/50". 50/50 was a new recipe that she made up...my mother said that one half of the time it was delicious....but one half of the time it was ugg!
Tonight was one of those nights that I had certain things in the refrig and decided to put them together... It started with cooking noodles in one pot and in another other sauteing onion in olive oil, adding garlic and one sweet Italian sausage (pre-cooked leftover) link and shrimp. When they were cooked, 1/4 cup of white wine was added with 1/2 cup heavy cream and 1tsp flour to thicken with 1/2 cup parmesean cheese to cover. It smelled great....and....
It was pronounced a 50 thumbs-up!! Thank you judges!!
Side note...when our kids were teens, they sometimes rated my cooking on a scale from 1-10...that was fun! (not always) That's when I taught them to cook! And they all are pretty good cooks today.

Love it! 50/50 is a great idea. The joke in my house is whether or not my cooking/baking will set up. Hence the name spoon cookies. My husband has to eat them with a spoon and not his hands.
Inventing recipes is fun and creative; never mind that it saves a lot of money too. Congratulations on your wisdom and style.

Your meal could e one of mine, Donna. Creative cooking is something I love to do...I actually listed it as an interest on my blogger profile. My youngest son who is 41 loves to be creative in the kitchen too, often cooks for his family!
Donna, I think that your 50/50 receipe is great and I'm sure very tasty. I often have receipes like that that I don't have any names for but are delicious.

New recipe night is what we called it and sometimes it was a "do over" and other times it was "better luck next time"..yours looks delish and I'm sure it was because I don't think I've ever eaten anything you made that wasn't!

Good food...the way to anyone's heart...have a lovely Valentine's Day Weekend, havent decided yet...Nice to try new things instead of getting in a rut! I'm ready for the Keys but no plans to go...at least not yet!
Wow! I can tell you are a really good cook. Anybody who can just come up with a recipe like that off the top of their heads, has to be. I need to teach my middle son to cook. He's so picky. My 5 year old thinks I'm the best cook ever. Wonder when that will change? Probably when he goes off to college like his sister. The first thing she wants to do when she comes home is eat mom's cooking.
okay, that looks delicious and i'm sure it was for we have similar dishes served up at my house too. That white wine and cream does it. good thing those dishes are a once in a while kind for us.

Wow, does that ever look good. I am going to have to try that one. We just got on to sauteing shrimp recently and we can't seem to get enough of it. This is a great way to make it a little different. Thanks for the recipe. I sometimes just throw things together too, and sometimes they are good and then again, not so good. It's fun though and really quite creative. My husband Dick is really good at that. He loves to cook but never uses recipes. He likes to throw whatever is handy in the crock pot. Me, I never use it, but am quite willing to eat his creations.
Have you ever tried Grandma's noodles? They are in the freezer section of most super markets and they honestly taste like homemade. I used to make noodles a lot but the last time I did, they weren't so great so have been getting the frozen ones. They would go well with this recipe and I think I will use them for it.
Your 50/50 sounds absolutely delicious! I'd give it a thumbs up. These days, I'm getting creative with vegetables...you know, dieting...

Oh, I like that - 50/50. I make up recipes all the time and now I have a name for them. Your shrimp dish looks really yummy.
Your recipe looked delicious! I like to cook like that myself - I get bored doing the same old things.
