March Pete & Repeat....

One might have thought it was April Fool's on awakening today....more dumpage of snow!!! It was a damp heavy snow but so beautiful!
Each window I looked out of had such a pretty view even though I am sooo ready for spring!
I just read Yaya's blog over at Whispering Pines and she said my thoughts before I could...that any problem seems minute compared to Japan's right now.
So....what's a girl to do to cheer herself up in cabin fever?
Maybe spring cleaning!
This is an OLD, beloved Ethan Allen chair that we have had forever...about 26 years!  I remember Chelsea being about a year old sitting on my lap one Easter in our old house taking pictures in it!
We had a faithful dog who liked to jump up and sit on it when I was gone.  Scoobie wanted to sit with him but was too small to jump up so tore up the chair corners trying
:-(  poor little guy.  I bought fabric last week and it will soon be recovered in a black brocade.  Below is a chair & bench we got many years ago too in an antique store.  I covered it  when I bought it, but it too, is fading.  I bought striped silk fabric for it and plan to recover it again this weekend.  Wish me luck, I need it!!

good luck with your projects. The horror that is happening in japan is beyond mind numbing. I really do not want any more snow you can keep it.

Sorry you got more snow. We are having a big melt.

Sorry about all your snow but don't worry, it won't last much longer. It's so pretty but we've have had enough of pretty, we need warm...

Each day is a gift and it has to have somewhere to deposit it. lol. We are having heavy rain and we are hoping that it won't flood again.

Like you said our problems pale in comparison to what's happening in Japan.

We usually get a St Patrick snow storm so winter isn't over just yet. Have a great weekend. JB

Oh, I wish I had your talent to recover furniture! I've written about our wing chairs many times, a mess where the cats used them as a scratching post. I'd love to "professionaly" recover them, but I wouldn't have the guts to even begin so I just throw old spread over them! Can't wait to see how yours turn out!... Donna (who is glad that it was raining here instead of snowing!)

Hi Donna, That's a big reupholstery project. Have you done upholstery before? What a great ability to have. I'll look forward to seeing your new chair. Your snow is still so pretty. I just saw a few daffodils up at our place; I'll have to get some pics. They made me smile just to see a little patch of spring.
Have fun with your project. We're all praying for Japan.

I'm just re-covering the bench and matching chair...they are easy, Julie. The Ethan Allen chair will be done by a professional. I'm way to much of a novice to do it!!!!

I love to recover furniture too. You'll have to post photos when the chairs are done Your snow pix are very pretty. Maybe I will hold them to my forehead to help on this hot hot Brisbane day!

Thanks for visiting my blog and your kind comments were appreciated. Hopefully, I will be able to post some more after a break.
I have some furniture I would love to be able to restore myself. A comfortable chair is so good to keep and there are happy memories attached to such furniture.
Lovely photos of the snow and hope it doesn't last too long for you.

More snow? Oh dear, but I think spending time planning new projects is a good use of your "indoor" time. Hope you'll post before and after photos. London is sunny this morning, so we are hoping to get out and about today while we can.

Cheers,
Debi

Seems you're putting your cabin fever to good use, Donna. We woke to a beautiful snow landscape too yesterday, but a bright sun melted it away by late afternoon.

Your home is so warm and welcoming. Lovely pieces with sweet memories attached. I can;t wait to see the after photos too. Big hugs!

Your chair and you home to look so lovely and welcoming Donna. Not more snow! there is a severe weather warning out for Scotland over here with 30 cm of snow expected and yet right here in Mid Wales the temperature is quite mild and nice. Spring is on its way somewhere even if it is taking its time!

They will look great, I know it! Your home is so pretty inside and out..how's Scoobie doing? Hope the sunshine we will have today will help all of out of our cabin fever.

I HOPE we're done with snow here - but who knows???

I can't wait to see your chair with its new black brocade dress. I'm so envious of your talent to do this! I'm a chair person, too - and some of them could USE some new clothes!

I just talked to our daughter who is heading to the Philippines for two weeks via Japan. She said the trip is still on. I'm a little nervous. Isn't the devastation horrible?

I can't believe it is still snowing. But it's even cold here today in GA. Can't wait to see your finished projects!
Have a great day!

Those photos are magical, especially to one who goes snowless.

And you're right, Japan's tragedy kind of puts all the rest of life in perspective. I am praying for them.

Good luck with your seat recovering efforts!

=)

Winter seems to be hanging on forever here, too! Good luck on your sewing project, that is awesome you know how to do that! I'm afraid I'm not much of a seamstress, but I wield a mean hot glue gun:) Have a great weekend.

Hi Donna Sweetie...
Oh what a beautiful share. I love this chair and I cannot wait to see it covered. I know it will be breathtaking. And you bench oh do I ever love that design. So pretty and I can't wait to see the new fabric you have chosen for it as well.

Your photos of white and glistening are just breathtaking. I have to tell you sweetie, I was outside getting my Vitamin D today. We got up to 88 degrees and I watered my garden flowers and even got sun on my arms and both shoulders. A beautiful day here in the desert. I soaked up a little for you as well.

I can remember when we lived in Oklahoma, and I got tired of the snow. I put a little tarp down on the carpet in the living room, and put warm water in a wading pool. I sat up my sun lamp, yes I did, and I went off to the beach. Had the best afternoon ever, and I felt so relaxed the whole day. What fun that was.

Have a beautiful Sunday sweet one. I can't wait to see your projects complete. I just know they are going to be gorgeous. Please drop me a line when you get them done, as blogger is still not being good to me. I still do not have my dashboard back, so I can't see when anyone posts a new post. And I don't have the links to each blog, I have to keep going back to my post and popping by at random.

Many hugs to you sweetie and so much love, Sherry

yes, you captured the beauty of the snow covered trees nicely. And a walk down memory lane doesn't hurt when you are stuck in the cabin fever mode.
there is alway stuff to do, isn't there?

take care

All that snow Donna! Your photos are wonderful and you are so right...there is nothing like freshly fallen snow...so peaceful. I love your pics around the house. I hope you show us the finished chairs when they are done.

Enjoy your time at home Donna...before you know it you will be sitting out on that deck with a nice tall glass of iced tea :)

That was an especially pretty snow you had. Hopefully it will be your last, though. We're all ready for blooming bulbs and green grass, aren't we! We're supposed to get a dusting or two this week, but my tulips are bravely poking their heads up.
