the Last Hurrah of Summer....

Even the dog feels it...the cool crispness in the air at night makes him snuggle in a little more.  The leaves have literally rained down on our yard this weekend and I see a lot of work coming in the weeks ahead.  I wanted to do yard work this weekend, but Larry wouldn't hear of it.  He said that this would probably be the last of the remarkably good weather and we should just enjoy it. So....
We headed south to watch another of 4 year old Cooper's soccer games.  They are blissfully short and so much fun to watch!  Coop is #17 and here is volunteering for something...
 from his encouraging coach.
A break during the game brings a drink and more encouragement.
 He takes the ball away!
Concentrating on the game...
Chest bumps in the end...good going Cooper!! (they lost)
Today, we decided to go down on the pontoon to clean it up.  We haven't had much time to spend on it this summer and wanted to just relax too. We discovered that was a popular idea when we saw a full parking lot as we entered the marina. The turning leaves are so pretty to look at along the shoreline.
There was a lot of end-of-summer partying going on as we saw many boats that "link-up" for that purpose.

After cleaning, Larry fished while I like to simply sit and read and boat watch.

It was one of those times you wish would last for a couple of days.  We stayed until the bitter end, -grateful for this moment before the work week starts.

What a wonderful weekend! I would have done the same thing! Glad you enjoyed it. I seem to remember a post last year of the multiplying leaves!

I agree with Marsha - your husband made a good call. This was certainly a rare weekend of fabulous weather for this time of year. It was in the early 80's here today.

Your husband is a wise man. Yard work can usually wait. Your photos of the lake are so beautiful - the last one is absolutely incredible! Frame-worthy for sure. I felt like I was enjoying it with you.

Your pics are beautiful. I saw really pretty leaves coming and going to NY...ours aren't quite as colorful yet. I just laughed at the "chest bump" shot..too funny from such little dudes..I love soccer too because it's quick, fast and fun. Too bad my Grands don't play...boohoo! Glad you had some relaxing this weekend and thanks for filling in for me at work!

I like the look of those 3 'house boats'. I want one! Good to see the boys all enjoying soccer. I never played it myself (I played Rugby), but I suppose it's the world's most popular game.

My two local grandchildren both play in football teams on Saturdays
and it's time well spent as they enjoy the keep-fit fun.
Those lakeside shots are great, too, especially the last one. Glad you had a good weekend with the family.

Donna - I think your Larry is so right. Glad you enjoyed the sunshine. Our weather has turned decidedly cooler and windy. I love taking little time-out moments too!

Donna, I'm so glad that you decided to go play and relax instead of trying to pick up leaves that are still falling anyway. It looks like a great way to do spend a beautiful day watching the leaves and boats.

My youngest daughter was a soccer player and they played hard and even in cold weather. I had to put plastic on the car seat as they were often full of mud.

Those little kids are just so cute, especially the girls... Sorry that Cooper's team lost but he'll have his wins when the time comes. Love the chest bump... JB

Here's to hoping that now the wedding has passed, we can get out tto the lake one last time before the snow sets in.
